At the end of a long hot day, we’re now at Tawonga South. The view of Mt Bogong was beautiful… not as beautiful as the swim in the river once we got to the holiday park. Freezing cold, mountain fresh water. A great way to cool off.

Forecast for the ride is still looking iffy – either stinking hot or bucketing rain.

Finally managed to get in on a bit of Bbk/Taco Truck action, and it was well worth it. We shared a mixed taco plate (1 x fish & 1 x chicken) and a Raph burger with fries. The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was very relaxed in the park, with about 30 or 40 lazing about.

They’re an american band that we were lucky enough to see as a support act last year when we went to see Calexico at The Roundhouse in Chalk Farm. They play quite a different kind of music – very full of sound and interesting to listen to. One of the things that amazed me when we saw them live was the number and range of instruments they had on stage at any one time. I think there were 7 of them on stage playing at one time or another the following instruments:

  • Eukelele x 3
  • Mandolin
  • fiddle x 2
  • Guitar
  • baritone sax
  • tuba x 2
  • trumpet x 3
  • Clarinet
  • Xylophone
  • Drums
  • tambourine x 2
  • Cello
  • Keyboard
  • vocals x 2

While the lead singer wasn’t a terribly big bloke, he had a spectacular voice – very deep and strong.

I’d recommend checking them out if you get the chance – especially live.
